The absurdist majesty of early David Devant & his Spirit Wife performances is an experience that has left devotees still rubbing their eyes to this day. That no other pop combo has taken up this gauntlet to create a state of live 360 degree wonder is a mystery locked in an enigma. Heralded as “ the future of pop music” by the Sunday Times Style supplement, Brighton’s own art school theatrical rockers perform a set seesawing through their patented camp Victorian cardboard-core to latter day mystically tinged psyche pop with the entire musical spectrum between 1883 – Magazine June 2017-07-03 David Devant & His Spirit Wife never intended themselves to become a band, but rather a space in which weird and wonderful happenings could unfold.  Their shows became the stuff of legend during the Britpop era, enthrallingly mixing theatricality, tongue-in-cheek humour and audience participation and defying categorisation.
